LO5. Prepare a Training Plan

Prepare a Training Plan

By: Hermelo A. Cervantes, Ph.D.

You will prepare Training Plan to your upgraded e-CBLM. At the last portion of this guidesheet you will find a template of the Training Plan that you can use.

The following are specific guides you need to watch out:

1. Modality

1.1 Full-online

Full-online refers to the training delivered only by online. However, although both are online, there are two types of online delivery. One is synchronous, and the other one asynchronous. The prefix ‘syn’ means the same. The suffix ‘ chronous’ means time. Thus, synchronous is the same time. Meanwhile, the prefix ‘a’ means opposite. Therefore, ‘asynchronous’ means opposite of synchronous, and that is, not synchronous, not the same time.

Synchronous type of online learning takes place when the trainees and the trainer interact at same time. The trainer and the trainees are logged in the internet and they are in the same classroom which is the e-platform, virtual classroom and not the physical classroom.

Asynchronous type of online learning occurs when, for example, the trainer uploads learning materials into the e-platform at one time, then the trainees read or pick up the uploaded materials at a different time.

1.2 Blended online

Blended online modality is a combination of online learning and face-to-face classroom learning. Online learning is to impart knowledge while face-to-face is appropriate to acquire skills.

1.3 Distance Learning

Distance learning happens the trainees acquire learning through the learning modules sent to them and conduct their independent study at home or any place they have.

2. Learning Outcomes and Learning Contents

Make sure that the learning outcomes and learning contents to appear in your Training Plan reflect those in your e-CBLM.

3. Learning Resources

There are three information in the column Learning Resources of your Training Plan. First, write the source of your learning contents. Second, you write the online activities, or what the learners do in the online platform. Third, what digital tool or tools that you use to store your learning resources.

4. e-Learning Infrastructure Requirements

4.1 Learning Management System (LMS)

The Learning Management System (LMS) is like a one-stop shop. All you need for online tools are already there. You need not go elsewhere. Other technologies are not necessary, except if there is a special need to address.

Mostly, Learning Management System is pricey. Except for the price, they carry the same functionalities. It is up to you to pick up what LMS brand your heart dictates. I suggest, though, you use TalentLMS. I find their pricing structure open to a wider latitude for significant savings. For smaller schools or which courses are short-term

4.2 Or Others

The term ‘Or Others’ that appears in the Training Plan template devised by TESDA Circular No. 62 means that if the training school does not use LMS, the alternative is the assortment of stand-alone e-learning tools that can be used separately according to the needs, e.g., independent study of learning materials, discussions, fora, peer collaboration, assessments, etc.

( ) application that provide access to the digital content and any shared resources anywhere, anytime

( ) application that allows communication between trainers and peers synchronous and asynchronous; and

( ) application that allows administration of assessment of learning outcomes

Do not fill anything in ‘Or Others’ if you have LMS. ‘Or Others’ which may consist of a variety of stand-alone digital tools is necessary only as an alternative to or in place of LMS.
